Performing

Rachael began performing at the age of 10 with the National Children's Orchestra where she progressed through the various ensembles finishing in the main orchestra at the age of 14, and having had the pleasure of playing at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester as well as in London at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall.  Rachael then joined the National Youth Sinfonia, appearing at the Royal Albert Hall in the 2000 BBC Proms and also performing at Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Aldeburgh.  Whilst at Wells Cathedral School for Music, Rachael regularly played in the public lunchtime concerts at the school in addition to the termly orchestral performance in Wells Cathedral and concerts at Colston Hall, Bristol and the Barbican Centre, London.  Moving to Trinity College of Music to continue her studies, Rachael played chamber music in the College Chapel opposite the famous Painted Hall in Greenwich, and in 2005 attended the International Music Festival in Schlern performing chamber music and solos throughout the 3-week event.  Whilst attending the University of Cambridge, Rachael performed in numerous concerts on the violin and bassoon with the University's various orchestras and wind bands, as well as supporting musical theatre productions (including "Singing in the Rain" at Cambridge Arts Theatre) in the pit band as a violinist.  Since leaving Cambridge, Rachael has continued to develop her performance career, playing with Plymouth Symphony Orchestra and directing Saltash Girls' Choir.  More recently, Rachael has continued to play for musical theatre productions and with Slough Philharmonic Orchestra (including supporting educational outreach events), performed at private events with Ear Candy and led Marlow Orchestra. In the last few years, Rachael has also achieved both her associate and licentiate performance diplomas from Trinity College of Music, before her recent move to Oxfordshire.

Rachael's main performing interests lie with the violin and viola.  She particularly enjoys performing orchestral music from the romantic period, Bohemian style pieces by composers such as Sarasarte, Wieniawski and Bloch, as well as film scores of all varieties, while being comfortable across a wide repertoire of music ranging from musical theatre, to folk, and to classical & baroque.  An accomplished orchestral player and leader, soloist and band member, Rachael welcomes all contacts  for further information on her performance availability, accessible here.
